Happy 4th of July!

Last Wednesday we celebrated America's Independence Day here in Saudi!  Living in a country where you are not allowed to drive, dress the way you would like, or voice your political or religious opinions freely makes you really cherish the freedoms that we have in the States.  The experience of living in Saudi has profoundly impacted us, and I pray that I will never take our simple freedoms for granted again.

Our fourth of July was quite busy!  Brent had to work because it is obviously not a holiday here.  Savannah and I started our day early and went to a friend's house for a play date with her two daughters.  Our Savy LOVES being around other kids!  She lights up when she has the opportunity to play with some of her friends!.  :)  After that play date we came home and she got a nice nap, then we had another friend and her little boy, Jack, over to play at our house.  Jack is two and a half months older than Savannah so they have lots of fun together!  Jack's mom Amber brought Savannah a little flag from the States.  We got a cute picture of them together...... you can only imagine how long it took us to get them to both be still and look at the camera.  :)

Fourth of July Friends!
That night, we went to our friends, the Sperlings, and ate dinner with their family and a few friends.  Stephanie's dad was Brent's old plant manager when we lived in Baton Rouge, so Brent enjoyed being able to hang out for a bit.  Funny how life comes full circle.  :)

Happy Fourth of July

Fourth of July Dinner
The next day (Thursday) is our first weekend day (like Saturday- we call it Saudi Saturday), and we spent it relaxing together!  It was wonderful!  That night, we had the Jones family over (remember little Jack?).  Jack has learned how to give hugs to everyone, but Savannah wasn't sure what to think about that.  Brent was proud.  :)

Jack's ready to give hugs!
What a great weekend together!  :)
