Savannah Lately

With every passing day and week, our little Savy grows up more and more learning new things and making discoveries.  I thought it might be fun to write a post about what she is doing these days.

Words.....
Savannah currently says Dada, Mama (only when she's upset), bye bye, and she's working on Papa (my dad).  She understands clap, pat, and wave also.  She babbles constantly and seems to comprehend more and more every day.

Mobility.....
Our girl is crawling and cruising EVERYWHERE!  She loves for us to "chase" her when she is crawling and tries to go as quickly as she can.  I get quite a kick out of watching her cruise from one side of the room to the other.   She can figure out how to lean on anything! She is sooooo close to balancing on her own, but ,like me, has a very cautious personality and is afraid to let go.  :)
Her current favorite thing is to go up the stairs from our living room into the entry way, much to my dismay.  She knows how to go up the stairs, but not how to safely come back down.  We'll keep working on that one.  The space is unfortunately to large to gate off.
Crawling in the furniture!
Fine Motor Skills....
Savannah LOVEs stacking her toy rings and anything else she can make balance.  She also enjoys taking things in and out of the laundry basket, the cabinets, or any other container.  Perhaps the most enjoyable thing to watch is her dancing!  Anytime she hears music she starts dancing to the music.  It looks a bit like the twist, and we LOVE IT!

Stats....
I haven't measured her height in well over a month, but last night we weighed her and she was 22.5 lbs!  WOW!

Teeth....
Poor baby still has only two bottom teeth, but her two top teeth should be breaking through any day!

Diet.....
I am so proud to say that Savannah is NO LONGER TAKING A BOTTLE!!!!!!!!  A week before her birthday we started substituting some of her bottles with sippy cups of milk.  Thank goodness she really likes milk!  By the end of last week we were down to one bottle first thing in the morning.  Three days ago we eliminated that last bottle and the rest is history!
Since eliminating her bottle feedings her solid food intake has doubled and she loves it.  She's eating three meals a day with an additional snack or two.  Since she's only got the two teeth we have to make sure that most of the food she eats is somewhat easily gummed, but we are trying to give her a little bit of our dinner every night.  Last weekend we were proud to discover that even though our little girl was born in Saudi, she is a southern American through and through who LOVES red beans and rice!
Red beans and rice- YUM!

Sippy Cup!

Hair.....
Savannah's hair has grown so much even since we were last in the States.  We always have it pulled back with a bow because it would otherwise be in her face constantly.  This week one of my friends here on the compound gave us some of those tiny little hair rubber bands.  We have tried out pigtails and a ponytail, and I must say she was so stinking cute!

Toys....
Savannah got some great toys for her birthday including a little red wagon from some friends here.  She LOVES riding in it!

She also got a little stroller from another friend and she loves pushing it around.  So cute!

Upcoming Adventures......
We are heading to Bahrain for the day tomorrow just for a day awaty before Ramadan begins.  It should be a nice day to enjoy a little bit of freedom and good food!  :)  On the July 26th Savannah and I will be heading to the States for a visit!  Brent will join us on August 9.  We are so excited to be home for a little while and can't wait to see our friends and family!
