Baby Number 2....It's a............

I am now 16 weeks 1 day pregnant and yesterday I made the trip to Khobar for another visit to my doctor.  Brent was unable to come with me because of his trip to the States, but my wonderful friend Cherie attended with me.  Brent and I been anxiously awaiting this ultrasound for weeks because we knew we would most likely find out the gender of our second bundle of joy.  Even though he isn't here, we decided to go ahead and find out, then I would immediately call him and tell him the news.  After a thorough looking over the baby, Dr. Ashour said that baby number two looked great! Then it was time to see if we can have a peek between baby's legs and find out!

Brent and I have been praying for a healthy baby and truly didn't have a preference for the baby's gender.  I have been convinced that we were having a boy because this pregnancy has been so different than Savannah's.  To my pleasant surprise, I learned that we are having...... A GIRL!!!!!   I feel so blessed to know we are going to be welcoming in a sweet new baby girl in just a few short months.  Savannah is going to have a sister!  (Sisters, sisters!  Never were there such devoted sisters!- White Christmas)

As soon as we got back into the car from the appointment I called Brent, but had no luck getting him on the phone.  He had arrived in Baton Rouge less than 12 hours earlier and was zonked out with jetlag.  I tried off and on throughout the day and finally got him at 3:30 in the afternoon.  It's funny because when he saw my face he said he knew it was a little girl!  What lucky girls my children are to have such a great daddy!  He truly is amazing!

Here are a few of the pictures we got from this ultrasound....

Please continue to pray that our little girl will keep developing healthy and strong, and for us as we excitedly prepare for another baby.  Thanks for all of the support!

Remembering Mawmaw

This week has been an emotional one for our family.  On Sunday morning, Brent's grandmother, Mrs. Vergie Hutchinson, went to be with Jesus.  While we rejoice that she is with our Savior and Lord and that we will see her again, our hearts hurt to know that she is gone.

Mawmaw (her grandma name), was one of the sweetest ladies and a wonderful grandmother!  Her sweet disposition and caring nature were a blessing to all who knew her. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and was sharp as a tac. In the last years of her life, Mawmaw devoted all of her time and energy in caring for her husband (Pawpaw).  What an excellent example of love, devotion, and commitment she was.  I was blessed to know Mawmaw and so thankful that Savannah was able to know her too.  I will never forget her sweetness and kind heart!

Brent has flown home to be with his family during this time, and I am so thankful to his company for allowing him to go.  Unfortunately, Savannah and I were unable to go because she has been fighting an ear infection and the short duration of the trip (jetlag twice within the span of a week).  Although we are not there in person, our hearts are with the family during the coming days as they celebrate and remember Mawmaw's life.

Please pray for our family, the Hutchinsons and the Hills, as they mourn the loss of their mother and grandmother.

Sweet Mawmaw and Savannah

Saudi Gras 2013!

Last Thursday, our compound had it's annual Mardi Gras parade and dinner.  Around here the expatriates have affectionately dubbed it as "Saudi Gras!"  In years past, we have not participated in the parade, but this year our friends Daniel, Amber, and Jack invited Savannah to ride in the Mardi Gras wagon with Jack.  Here's a few pictures of when they picked us up.

We then headed to our compound market while all the participants gathered together for the parade.  We took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of our close friends who were also there early.

The Moms- Me, Amber, and Lindsey
The Kids- Gavin, Brooklyn, Miles, Savannah, and Jack
Off we went, and the parade began!  Savannah was fascinated by all the costumes and bead/candy throwing.  It was quite fun!

Here comes the parade!

Hi Daddy!

Look what I've got!
After the parade ended (it lasted about five minutes), we all headed to the compound recreational center and enjoyed a delicious potluck "Cajun" dinner!   It was a fantastic time of enjoying each other's company and some great food.  We are blessed to have a great community of friends and activities here on Murjan.  :)

Life Lately...

Since coming back to Saudi from the States, life has been incredibly busy (hence taking forever to update the blog)!  Savannah has started back to Playschool and continues to love her friends and her teachers!  I have started taking a sewing class once a week (more on that later), and work continues to keep Brent very busy!  Brent also completed an Introduction into Arabic class.  It is amazing how much he learned!
